Hello friends and for you who just happened to find this website, my name is Mervyn but friends call me 'merv' in short. I am currently 24 this year and serving national service. I graduated from Temasek Polytechnic in 1998 with a Diploma in Electronics. Those were one of the best times of my life. I made some sworn brothers there, Billy, Roy, Adrian and Azhari. It seems like time is taking a toll on us. Most of us are too busy to keep in constant contact. And Billy is getting married to a sweet girl named Kelly. I wish him all the best in his married life...My! How time flies...it seemed like yesterday when we were at the coffeeshop drinking coffee and smoking talking about life and what it had to offer. I got to know a very sweet and charming girl in the polytechnic, however our relationship was shortlived due to certain unpredictable factors. I have lost touch with her since and I hope to hear from her again. It was also during my poly days that I was introduced to the Internet Relay Chat. This media changed my life tremendously. There are many things I enjoy doing in life, here are just a few of them... clubbing...watching movies and listening to music.
I started clubbing in 1998. At that time, BOAT QUAY was the place to be. Pubs like BOATHOUSE, KILIMANJAROS and RIVERBANK soon became our hangout every Saturday. In the later part of 1998, BOAT QUAY was invaded by what we Singaporeans call *AH BENGS*...Soon the air was filled with techno beats instead of the melodic retro tunes. We started to shift our base to ZOUK and can be seen partying there every Wednesday night (MAMBO JUMBO Nights), this was where I fell in love with LONG ISLAND TEA! ahhhhhhhh....Feels like heaven... Could you believe it? You actually had to queue up at ZOUK by 6pm if you wanted to go for MAMBO JUMBO back at that time. Early 1999 saw the rise of clubs and pubs along Mohamed Sultan Road. Like all inquisitive Singaporean Clubbers, We soon crossed over there. Eventually all of us got real sick of retro...We started to dominate Phuture. Break Beats really pumped us up! Soon thereafter, house music and trance became our passion...We got really into it. Currently my personal favourite clubs are ZOUK, VELVET UNDERGROUND and NOX...I make it a point to visit these clubs once a week at least.
I run a chatroom on Galaxynet called #CLUBBERZ. I think it has been up for over 2 years now. It was a great experience because I made many great buddies from this medium.
