CLUB PROFILE:

The Club Mobil made a stop at Lush this week and unravels the truth behind this critically acclaimed club.

The Clubberz Guides, Merv, Grover, Bruce, Lynette, Amy, Audrey, Greg, Kel, Carolyn, Max and Mary Anne were at Lush on Friday to give you a review on the critically acclaimed 'Underground' club in Singapore...

The first thing I noticed as I approached the entrance were the people queuing up to get in. The guys were clad in long sleeved shirts(and some with ties ) and pants along with leather shoes. The ladies were donned in what seemed like 'evening gowns'. I thought for a moment...'Did these people come here to receive a STAR AWARD?' I was suddenly taken back. These people seemed to come here to sit down and talk about work while indulging in the background of the cheesy music being dished out by some amatuer DJ. The posh exterior of the club seems to give people the impression that 'Only celebrities will be allowed entry' Soon I entered the club and was greeted by the commercial track 'Don't Call Me Baby' by Madison Avenue. The club with an equally posh interior is divided into two stories. The dance floor on the ground level was remarkably small. Beside the dance floor is the bar showcasing all types of liquor. Quite an impressive collection I might add. The second level boasts a cosy little corner with sofas, this is a good place to chat and catch up with your friends and colleagues. The DJ's turntable is also found here. I made my way up the flight of stairs and found a cosy little corner with sofas and tables. I pitched my tent there for the night. My roaming eyes were on The *executive* crowd as I would call them on the ground floor who were busy chatting away and drinking but standing motionless to the background of tracks ranging from 'American Pie' by Madonna to Earth Wind and Fire's 'September'. Pretty soon, I was informed by the waiter of the 'One for One' promotions going on. I got myself a jug of Vodka 7 UP at a price of 40 dollars. Soon I was grooving and I noticed that the crowd had perked up. As the night progressed, the crowd was hyped up and were dancing to soulful and housey tunes including David Morales' 'Needin' U', Sex O Sonique's 'Thought it was U', Peter Heller's 'Big Love' and many more. Who says executives and secretaries are boring people? They can be real groovy too...

Merv's ratings: A Club with a decent crowd who just want to have pure fun. Give the DJ some credit for playing David Morales' 'Needin' U' and Sex O Sonique's 'Thought it was U'...Very seldom has other clubs played them. ****/*****

LUSH - Where the hell is that?
You might not know where LUSH is. The average clubber on the street will simply tell you its along Mohamed Sultan Road. This is not true although it is just a stone's throw away. The address is actually 9 KIM YAM ROAD right beside the UE Square building.

We had a great time didn't we? And the clubbers go marching on!
